Alfabeta Bokförlag

Alfabeta was established in 1978 and is a mid-sized independent publisher of quality literature. We publish approximately 60 new titles per year for children of all ages and in all categories – picture books, middle grade fiction, young adult novels and non-fiction.

From the start, Alfabeta wanted to bring a different perspective to children’s books and became the home for a whole new generation of authors and illustrators. Those ground-breaking authors and illustrators are still among the most important names in Swedish children’s literature today.

Alfabeta prides itself on its successful backlist and look to publish books that have a long life. The best example for this is the highly innovative picture book “Knacka på” (Knock, knock, knock) by Anna-Clara Tidholm. First published in 1992 it now has a permanent place on the Swedish bestseller lists and has become a modern classic published in 17 languages and with over 1 million copies sold worldwide.
